I saw this in venezuela a few months ago. When the painter was done, he lit the entire thing on fire (to dry it, I presume). He had all types of stencils and spray painted people too.

There's a guy at the Orange County Fair grounds every weekend doint this stuff by the name of Greg Z... I voted for the video, but not because I'm impressed with the ability.

Aesthetically, this is just a van painting on a smaller scale. But watching the application of the technique was neat.

so i when he started i was like: "this is gonna suck.." but the technique is great and the results, while quite touristy, are quite beautiful in my eyes. (granted you won't find it hanging on my wall..:-)

He sticks the main parts of the picture on from pre-made (probably pre-bought) transfer sheets. I'm sure anyone could do just as good a job with minimal practice.

Good for a 7-year-old kid's bedroom wall, but of zero artistic value.

It's not transfer sheets; it's just scraps of glossy paper torn from magazines. The paper sticks to the still-wet top layers of paint and peels it off.

I always wonder which street busker thought of this first, and whether he's proud or ashamed of the fact that zillions of guys with spray cans have been copying him on beaches and sidewalks around the world.

There's a guy here that does this every weekend on 6th Street. He is much better than this guy (he does pop art, animals, and people...he says the "Space" theme is for beginners) but like darkrowan, I vote for the medium.

He said that there is an underground network of artists who teach each other techniques. The starter artist usually travels the country and "apprentices" until he wants to go out on his own. They even have "guest street corner bookings" for artists who are really good. It's amazing how wide-spread this is.

Zero Value? He's making a killing off of the number of people who buys his paintings. Look at these for sale and see more impressive ones: http://www.spacepaintings.com/page/page/1393615.htm

I said "zero artistic value", not "zero financial value". I'm sure he does sell a cartload, but that doesn't make them timeless works of art.

Or if it does, Britney Spears is one of the most artistically gifted musicians of modern times.
