I have ideas, I lack talent... whos with me? (Blog Entry by peggedbea)
I had some ideas. One of them was putting a trojan horse on a shirt, with the line "If the greek have taught us anything, it's to always look a gifthorse in the mouth". Even had a friend of mine make some drawings, I just haven't found the time to get into vector graphics yet.

Charlize Theron seemed really disappointed when she announced France as the 4th team in South Africa's group. Hooray for Italy getting an "easy" group, just hope they don't underestimate their opponents.

Many sifters are extremists when talking about religion (Religion Talk Post)
>> ^jiyanibi:
The way I see it there are two ways to make those people understand our point of view. Videos that help explain the logic and reason of life and science is certainly the more caring route. The other route, unfortunately, is videos that ridicule. Just like the older kids ridiculing the younger kids for believing in Santa Claus.

I don't think that works. We're talking about people who have been indoctrinated since their early childhood. If they're not over it by now there's little chance they ever will be, and certainly not by some YouTube clip, just like a Kirk Cameron clip has little to no chance of converting you to his faith. All it does is make you mad and I'd rather practice tolerance and understanding than mock those whose beliefs differ from my own.

And the whole "creationism in public schools" seems to be a purely American phenomenon in the western world, and I don't see it happening even in the US. Just because a few loud people demand it doesn't mean they're gonna get their way. Meanwhile the whole issue is getting way more attention than it should, which plays right into their hands.

Many sifters are extremists when talking about religion (Religion Talk Post)
I agree with you dan00108, but it might be easier for me since I'm living in a country with 60+% atheists (and even the religious people mostly have a very loose interpretation). You might know this better than me, but it's still a bit different in the US and religion has taken a very negative influence on politics, especially in the last decade. The separation of church and state doesn't seem all that present regarding certain issues such as gay marriage or abortion. That's why I can understand people's desire to speak out.

What I don't really like is the fact that every aspect of religion is being thrown in one hat and condemned as bad. Many issues are to blame on the churches and their wrong interpretation of their religion, not on religion itself. There are alot of good religious people, who don't take the bible literally and who are open to ideas such as evolution, so I don't think it's right to alienate them and in the end it'll only work against the atheist cause.

In time atheists will become the majority in the US, there's no doubt about that. The only question is how long it'll take.

Unfortunately they don't seem to allow off-site embedding of HD content (anymore), at least not for non-plus members. I get a message saying that I can only watch the HD version directly on Vimeo.com when I click the HD button. Also, including the parameter hd_off=0 doesn't work anymore. Sorry

In reply to this comment by eric3579:
I just posted this video from vimeo. It has its HD embed disabled, and I was hoping you might know how to tweak the embed to get the HD version to work.

Teevirus adopts Cartmanland marketing strategy? (Commercial Talk Post)
Call it want you want ... T-Shirt, T-Shirt idea, design whatever. The fact remains that you're advertising them and that some of them are not for sale. The title of the panel doesn't really matter, it's the line saying "Help support VideoSift - buy a shirt or design your own!" followed by the image of the tshirt/design/whatever.

I don't really care enough to get into a great discussions about semantics here. All I was trying to say is that you might want to show off (aka advertise) the designs that are actually good and that people can buy and have bought, not the bad ones that fell through and that are not for sale.

And stop calling me a liar.

Teevirus adopts Cartmanland marketing strategy? (Commercial Talk Post)
How would I lie to make my point? My point is that some of the shirts that are being advertised on here are not for sale. If that'd be a lie then I'd have no point to make.

Here's an ad: http://imgur.com/dN18X.jpg

Here's the link to the advertised shirt: http://www.teevirus.com/design/Choose-Wisely

Often times the panel showcases shirts that got 30% or less in voting and have already expired in the workshop. Now on the off-chance that those bad shirts would inspire users to click through to TeeVirus.com, they wouldn't even be able to buy them.

I don't think they'd have me seeing as I'm not a pure-bred. People like that are usually pretty narrow-minded.

If the International Football Factories taught me anything, it's to never EVER go on an away game to eastern europe

In reply to this comment by rasch187:
Yeah I've seen them all, fascinating stuff. Which of the people interviewed are you then?

In reply to this comment by campionidelmondo:
I don't know if you're familiar with Danny Dyer and The Football Factories, but I thought you might enjoy this:

The rest of the parts should be in the related videos tab.

Vodka and superstitions (Blog Entry by campionidelmondo)
>> ^blankfist:
Whiskey. Love it. A good corn (mash) whiskey has a subtle sweetness to it and the glass smells of caramel.

Belgium beer is great. New Belgium's Lips of Faith (Dandelion, Wild Ale) is the best around.

And a good Zinfindel is bliss.

I just started smoking again.

I don't think I'll ever grow to like whiskey, but beligum beer sounds tempting. Just watched "In Bruges" again these days. I don't know how easy it'll be to get it, since german beer is pretty dominant here in Germany, apart from the commercial foreign brews such as Heineken, but I'll definitely try.

Vodka and superstitions (Blog Entry by campionidelmondo)
>> ^rasch187:
Vodka is nice, but boring...incredibly boring. If you want some flavour and enjoyment when it comes to liquor I would recommend cognac. Never been much of a whisk(e)y man myself, but it can be very nice from time to time.

No mentioning of wine? You call youself Italian?! Italy makes some incredible wine, my favourite being the nebiolo grape wines from the Piemonte district. The word 'barolo' makes me want to get a plane ticket right now...

Drinking is not a problem as long as it's about enjoyment, once it becomes part of your usual routine because you have to do it, it is a problem.

Yeah vodka is kinda what you make of it, unless you drink it pure because it's that good of a vodka. I'll definitely give cognac a try. I dont think I've consciencely drunken it. Oh well, I haven't mentioned wine because it was literally forced down my throat in my semi italian upbringing, which included very very great food, and lots of respect for women (which I guess is due to my italian father being raised by a single catholic mom).

Let's come to an agreement here, world (Blog Entry by rottenseed)
I usually take slashes as separators as an indicator that it is in the US format (mm/dd/yyyy). I guess it makes enough sense for americans to put it in that order, since you say "October 1st, 2009" in english.

Sarah Palin Book Signing - Meet The Fans
>> ^Winstonfield_Pennypacker:
No - you don't because I'm not. Haven't voted 'Republican' in the last 5 elections.

So even though you seem to be unable to stop criticizing and arguing against Obama, you did not think the McCain/Palin ticket was worth voting for, but you now defend Palin and the people in this video? You might not be republican, but you are doing this to spite the leftists.

>> ^Winstonfield_Pennypacker:
I'm not 'blue collar' if that's what you mean by 'working class', but I am a salaried employee and thus subject to the same issues that effect the bulk of Americans.

>> ^Winstonfield_Pennypacker:
I donate a large percentage of my personal income to charities.

I hate to break it to you, but the "bulk of Americans" can't afford to donate any part of their salary to charities, especially not a large part, because they can barely get by as it is. I do think, however, that it is very admirable that you donate part of your income.

Anti-religion Billboards Surface
I'm sorry, these billboards are just as stupid and obnoxious as the religious ones. I find it so incredibly annoying when religious people are so insecure that they have to tell everybody about their faith, and it seems that atheists in America have adopted that trait.

The one saying "Keep religion out of government" is fine, though.
